Had an interview with a helicopter manufacturer for a quality engineer position and was surprised they made everything buy hand.

Building 1 - 3 per year drives you towards hand built.

I toured a helicopter plant and they even did the canopy window shaping by hand. Did the place you interview at make small helicopters with hand welded CrMo pylons?

Nope, they only made military helicopters.

Just saw one of those last weekend. They are tiny on the inside - feels smaller than an MD-80.

Yup, I’m sure you know who I’m talking about. Not a big fan of that state, would rather stay in GA, but a job is a job.

It only carried about 125 passengers. That’s not a whole lot more than a CRJ700.

Fun fact (well, not really fun): yesterday (the 25th) marked the 16th anniversary of the Air France Flight 4590 Concorde crash.

Even those. Boeing has done what they can to automate large area riveting operations, but there is still a lot of hand work. I've been lucky enough to visit the Spirit Aerosystems facility in Wichita and there are still plenty of people driving rivers and hi-loks.
